Brampton Community Band – Take it from the top!
Musicians from the ages of 11 to 111 are invited to join Brampton Community Band. This newly-created band will be playing lively folk dance music from around Europe.
The band’s first session will be on 26th April, from 7.00 – 9.00pm at Old Hall Junior School, Old Road, Chesterfield, S40 3QR.
No audition is needed and the atmosphere will be casual. “We aim to achieve the informality of a pub session with just enough support to enable everyone to participate with confidence,” said Peter Gray. Peter has played with a folk dance band called Prego for 15 years and has loads of experience running multi-instrument workshops for all ages. “There will be music to read from, and music stands, if you need them! We welcome anyone over the age of 11 who wants the experience of playing in an informal group setting. Come along and give it a try.”
This is a chance to stir up a whirl of jigs, reels, polkas, bourrees etc and make Brampton full of the dance music from the folk cultures of Europe. Don’t miss it!
